Now that the most recent session of the Florida Legislature is history, it's interesting to note that the Florida Legislature passed a bill restricting the use of Taser stun guns to situations in which subjects are resisting and pose a danger of flight or harm. They also mandated special training for those who wil use the controversial weapon.
If the "special training" that Florida law enforcement officers who use Tasers are required to have under this new law were to include training that teachs the difference between lethal and non-lethal Taser deployment, how Tasers kill, and what constitutes a "safe Taser dose" for almost everyone--and who it is NOT safe for, and why--there would probably be a sharp decline in the rate of Taser deaths in Florida!
