Chicago Priest Continued in Parish Five Months After Archdiocese Knew of Abuse

Fr. Daniel McCormack, a priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago, was allowed to continue to abuse five months after Archdiocesan officials learned that he was abusing children at his parish! It is absolutely incomprehensible why Cardinal George would not have immediately removed the priest upon learning of the abuse in August 2005. Yet, it took a Cook County investigation to get the priest removed from the parish. According to abuse policies in the Archdiocese of Chicago, McCormack could have been removed as soon as he was accused of such criminal behavior. However, the church decided to ask another priest to “monitor” McCormack’s behavior. If this isn’t child endangerment I don’t know what is!
